The Quinta do Poço Gardens is a beautiful leisure area with several interesting species of trees and shrubs. Visitors can enjoy an excellent panoramic view of Funchal from the garden’s belvedere. At the beginning of the 20th century, a large reservoir began operating at this site to supply the city of Funchal with potable water. That is why the estate was known as the Poço da Câmara (Municipal Well). Later it came to be known as Quinta do Poço. With an area of 9,540 m2, the garden also has a nursery that produces the plants used for landscaping and maintaining the city’s public green spaces.
